On turning 21

Your last year as a child

Take a look at the world around you,
It is your last year to be a child
Remember all the toys and the games that you played

Take all the joys and the pains of scraped knees and uncontrollable laughters
Of hiding inside cabinets and searching under beams and shrubs for spiders
Of imagining fairies and pretending them to be guests in your birthday party
Of climbing trees of pretending fortresses and swimming with mermaids frolicking with dolphins under the sea

Take all the rainbows and the blanket of stars under the moonlit night
Take all the hurts and the pains of growing up
Bring all these memories and keep them forever.

Take these all with you
Put them in your heart
The wide horizon is yours now
The empty highway is ready for you
Waiting for you now

The world as you see it
In your eyes
it is your last year to be a child.
